## Chapter 6: Elon Musk, 'No Time To Die', And The Humiliation of Successful-Failures

The new James Bond has a lesson that can change your life. A lesson that isn't even in the movie.

Listen and discover it in this special episode.

### 6.1 Introduction

4 January 2020 is a day I was publicly humiliated.

One of the worst things that can happen online did happen to me.

### 6.2 Tesla CyberTruck

Just like Elon Musk, last year:

That day began normally for him.

It was a good day.

He checked his phone, it's full of congratulations messages.

He walked to the venue, and people where excited to meet him.

...As usual.

And he began his presentation. He was almost bored: Just one more day of glory in his life.

Suddenly, he was stunned!

He could expect... anything, but NOT this!

He felt a single drop of cold sweat slowly sliding down his back.

A tear almost falling down, but he held it back.

He held himself.

"Breathe!" yelled the voice inside Elon Musk's head.

He had to stay stoic, appear confident, to keep being strong.

Still, his mouth betrayed him... he heard his voice say: "Oh my God!"

Millions of people witnessed his humiliation.

Hundreds of YouTube videos discussed his failure.

Thousands of mean people on Twitter laughed behind his back.

### 6.3 007: No Time To Die

It was way worse than what happened to Barbara Broccoli.

For Barbara, producing James Bond movies is how she keeps the legacy of her father alive.

Her father produced the original 007 movies and dreamed of completing them all... And when he died, Barbara took over this dream, his legacy.

But it's not so easy...

The latest Bond, "No Time To Die" is definitely cursed.

At first, things seemed to be going well. The script is ready. The locations are chosen.

But then she received the call: "Daniel Craig will not play James Bond. He refuses."

Then, another call: "Danny Boyle will not direct the new James Bond. He quits."

Stress. Sleepless nights. Her dream falling apart in front of her eyes.

Millions of fans disappointed. Her father turning in his grave.

She COULD NOT take this.

Then, her team began consoling her: "You've done your best. Let's move on to something else."

But no, she knew something they didn't.

She kept going. Meeting after meeting. Gifts to Daniel Craig and his wife. Searching for a new worthy director.

Barely getting any sleep, but she made it happen.

She brought everything together to finish the new James Bond "No Time To Die".

The final piece in her legacy. The dream of her father complete.

The movie was ready to go LIVE all over the world, in all cinemas on April 10, 2020. That was the schedule.

But did the curse activate again?

Because the world went crazy: lockdowns everywhere, social distancing, all cinemas closed.

Her dream keeps falling apart, her heart keeps breaking, her hopes keep being betrayed by a world that seems to be against her in every way.

### 6.4 The Lesson of Courage

Will Barbara keep her courage? Will she keep going after her broken goals? Or will she give up?

We know Elon Musk didn't give up. I too, for sure, I didn't give up after my public online humiliation.

On that day, when Elon Musk presented to the world the Tesla Cybertruck, it was a wonder to see.

Beautiful. Bulletproof. Basically every sci-fi fan's dream truck.

But that day, the demo didn't go as planned.

The car wasn't supposed to break when metal gets thrown at it.

It's supposed to be unbreakable, that's the whole point!

But it did break. In public.

Right after Elon Musk promised the world this car is unbreakable... its window shattered right in front of their eyes, risking a part of his credibility.

Did he run away and hide his face in a cave never meeting another human again?

Was that the end of the Tesla CyberTruck?

No, it was not.

Because what highly successful people have is the courage to keep going no matter how hard things get.

I repeat, because this is the whole lesson from this episode: Highly successful people have the courage to keep going no matter how humiliated and broken they can get on their journey to their goals.

### 6.5 Rocky Balboa

Just like Rocky Balboa said in his famous speech to his son:

"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!"

### 6.6 January 4th, 2020

And on that humiliating 4th of January 2020, I too kept moving forward.

On that day, it was my very first time recording a Podcast episode, crossing that threshold on my journey, going through that call to adventure.

That day, I actually recorded 2 episodes back-to-back. I was highly motivated.

The second recording is fine, almost flawless.

But the first, I don't know why, is low, low, low quality.

It's a mystery.

Yes, I did ramble too much out of nerves, but that's expected.

The mysterious part is: there is a weird interference during some sections of that episode, as if an alien signal crossed paths with my sound-waves.

And I thought: "That's the worst fear of anyone publishing a Podcast online, to do work that makes them look bad, incompetent, like an idiot."

But I decided to face that fear, to look like an idiot and get it over with. And I published that episode about my Predictions for 2020 as is, without any retouching.

Now, I can look like an incompetent idiot any time, it doesn't scare me anymore. Which gives me a lot more power to take action without procrastination or perfectionism.

It's the feeling I'm sure Tyler Durden in Fight Club meant when he said: "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."

I change that to: "It's only after you get publicly humiliated that you're free to take massive action."

Even when it came to learning English, it's my third language. I learned it from scratch as an adult.

One day, I was at a gathering, and I forced myself to interact with everyone, to speak English.

At the time, I thought the word beard was said "bearb" which is similar to the French "barbe".

So I told a guy there: "Oh, you shaved your bearb. It looks nice."

And he burst into laughter!!! He almost rolled on the floor laughing so loud, and went around telling everyone that I can't say the word beard, that I say it in the weirdest way he has ever heard!

Did that public humiliation stop me? Nope. I accepted long ago that humiliation will happen, I accepted it as the price I have to pay for the life I want, so I kept speaking English, I kept going, I kept improving 1% every day, and I am sure you can notice the difference right now.

### 6.7 The Humiliating Lesson

The lesson out of all of this is:

Most people don't begin creating content online, they don't start pursuing their happiness and their dreams, because they worry they'll be humiliated if they fail.

They worry some big problem will overwhelm them, that they cannot face what they're afraid will happen.

And I am here to tell you the truth:

Yes, you will do something totally wrong and stupid that will get you humiliated.

Just like Elon Musk got humiliated. Just like I got humiliated. Just like the producer of James Bond 'No Time To Die' felt like everything is going wrong, and the whole world is against her goals and dreams.

But you know what? It be will totally fine.

It's part of the process for everyone.

Failures, humiliation, problems are the price you pay for the success you want.

Hear that again:

Failures, humiliation, problems are the price you pay for the success you want.

Most successful people are successful-failures, they failed a lot. Those who didn't fail inherited their wealth.

This is real life, not fiction.

There will be problems. There will be things that you wish didn't happen.

But you know what? Such humiliating events are happening so frequently these days that by the next week, people would have forgotten all about your own humiliation because they're busy with something else.

Because the only way to get massive success is to take risks. There is no completely safe road to your glory.

### 6.8 It's Your Turn

Now, I turn to you and ask:

Are you afraid of humiliation?

Are you afraid to take risks and lose?

Is this what is stopping you right now?

If yes, what's the difference between your attitude and the attitude of Elon Musk?

Does he have more to lose than you?

Yes he does.

Just think of it: Elon Musk has billions to lose, his respected reputation worldwide, his place in the history books, the companies he started to change the future of humanity.

So, he has a billion times more to lose than you and me if he fails.

Did that stop him from taking big risks? No it did not.

And that's why he succeeds.

He succeeds because he has the courage to take more risks than other people do.

So take risks in life. Accept that sometimes things will NOT go your way, but often those risks will positively surprise you more than you can imagine.

Really, often what we should fear most is the fear itself. Often, the risks do pay off, the risks do get the good results, the risks are the path to everything you want.

So: what risk can you begin taking today?

Begin it. Go for it. Mess with the world and show it your courage.

Because courage is THE foundation for success. Courage is a fundamental trait of StoryBonding. It's what we do here that other people don't do: We are risk takers.

...We face our fears and we go for what we want.

That's what StoryBonders do. And you are one of us now.

So go do it, just do it, you have permission!

And in the next episode, you'll discover the story of Pablo Picasso, One Cheeky Woman, And The Day I Almost Died.

Lots of deep wisdom will be there, so make sure to listen.
